Game Day Preview: 2026 Season Opener
April 18 Home Opener: New Venue, New Name
We’re jumping over apexes—and each other—with excitement because the home opening game of our 20th anniversary season is this Saturday, April 18. And it’s a huge leap symbolically too: we’vce changed our name from Cincinnati Rollergirls to Cincinnati Roller Derby. Our new name is in line with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s inclusive gender policy and reaffirms our support of transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive athletes.
Our B team, the Violent Lambs, will leap at the chance to play the Warrin’ Wrecking Dolls from Warren, Pennsylvania at our new venue, Flock Sports in North College Hill, in a single-header. We sold out every game at last year’s venue, but we’ll have twice the capacity at Flock, so bring your family and friends! VIP seating is sold out, but you can still buy GA adult and child tickets, group tickets and season tickets here.
We are also celebrating our 20th anniversary season in 2026—we first began as a team in 2006. Former player and long-time owner of the team Miss Print, aka Lauren Bishop, is also our resident archivist.
Asked what’s so significant about this milestone, Miss Print said: “I was there at the beginning of this league, when a rag-tag group of us were first figuring out not just how to skate but also the rules of this strange, new-to-us sport. I’m grateful to all those who laid the foundation for roller derby in Cincinnati and to all those who kept showing up over the years—through lost venues, two seasons wiped out by a pandemic, and everything in between. I’m excited that we’re starting this season with a renewed sense of identity and purpose, as reflected by our new name and mission, and in a venue with more space to welcome the fans who have supported us for two decades now. I can’t wait to see where the next 20 years take CRD.”
What are our coach’s thoughts? Asked what the team learned by going to the Deep-Fried Derby tournament April 3-5 (our first games of the season), and how might it apply to this coming game, co-coach Krystonite said, “The team learned how to get past adversity by sticking to our identity and keeping our composure throughout the tournament. It helps us in this and in future games by showing us that no matter the challenge ahead, as long as we execute like we practiced, we can be proud of how we play.”

Halftime Show: Dance Flash Fusion–an award-winning, inclusive Cincinnati dance group for women of all ages and abilities. Known for their high-energy street and parade performances, they were named Best Dance Company in CityBeat’s 2026 Best of Cincinnati awards.

Parking: Our venue has a large free parking lot with plenty of additional parking nearby.
Concessions: Hot food will be available from the Kungfusion food truck, and food and drinks including alcohol are available inside the venue.
