You can tell by the way our Skater of the Week, Shipwreck #66, skates that roller derby is in her veins. She’s like the paradigm of what every skater wants to be: quick, precise and powerful. And, despite being one of the youngest on the team, her undeniable talent and enthusiastic energy makes her a role model to many. We always leave the track smiling with Ship on our side.
How long have you been playing roller derby?
“11 years.”
What do you do for your day job?
“I work at Biggby coffee!”
What’s your favorite position to play?
“Pivot, it helps me stay aware of everything happening on the track.”
What is one of your derby strengths?
“Probably my versatility on the track. I can adjust to pretty much any position.”
What made you want to play roller derby?
“Seeing how much fun everyone was having.”
If you had to pick a highlight from your derby career so far, what would it be?
“Going to champs with Nashville Juniors last season! Seriously the best experience of my life :)”
What do you do for fun off the track?
“I juggle, rock climb, and spend time with friends!”
What would you say to someone who has thought about playing roller derby?
“DO IT!!!! The family aspect is no exaggeration and we will all help you every step of the way!!!”
